CEAST is a part of Instron’s product line. CEAST manufactures the CEAST Series consisting of Impact Testers, Capillary Rheometer Systems, Melt Flow Testers, Thermo-Mechanical HDT Vicat Testers, Specimen Preparation, and more!

Capillary Rheometers
Investigate the rheological properties of polymers and composite thermoplastic materials.
These bench top capillary rheometers are suitable for both Quality Control and Research & Development laboratories. Their two-column main frame construction guarantees maximum performance. With a velocity ratio of 1:500,000 corresponding to a piston speed of 0.0024 to 1200 mm/min, they perform tests with unlimited steps at constant shear rate or constant speed. Meets ISO, ASTM and equivalent standards.

Melt Flow Testers
Ideal for plastic materials Melt Mass-Flow Rate (MFR) and Melt Volume-Flow Rate (MVR) measurements.
Instron®’s CEAST Melt Flow Testers are specifically designed for easy and accurate measuring of the Melt Flow Rate (MFR) and the Melt Volume Rate (MVR). CEAST Melt Flow Testers range from systems that perform a simple manual test procedure to semi-automated testing systems performing multiple weight tests. Our testers meet ASTM and ISO standards.

HDT Vicat Thermo-Mechanical Testers
Determine the behavior of plastic materials at high temperature.
The Instron line of CEAST Thermo-mechanical systems are used to characterize the behavior of plastic materials at high temperatures, measuring the heat deflection temperature (HDT) and the Vicat softening temperature (Vicat). These HDT and VICAT testers range from very simple units for quality control labs to more advanced and automated systems.

Impact Testers
Perform impact testing by swinging pendulum method or falling deadweight.
The easily customized and controlled CEAST 9050 Impact Pendulum can test the resilience of plastics and composites with hammers, vices, or supports.

Specimen Preparation
Machines for motorised and fully-automated specimen notching, milling and punching cut methods.
Proper preparation of the specimen is a critical process for accurate material characterization. An appropriate preparation of the specimen as well as adequate notching will affect the final test results by generating reliable outcomes in the finish product performances. This can be accomplished by several specimen preparation techniques which abide by the main ISO and ASTM international standards. Instron offers an extensive range of notching, milling, and punching machines designed to prepare specimens from thick to thin as well as from soft to hard.

Software
The CeastVIEW software suite provides a complete interface between the instruments and the end-user.
The CEAST software brings together CEAST and Instron’s experience of impact, HDT Vicat and rheology testing, providing a complete interface between the instruments and the end-user. Developed for accurate material characterization analysis, data processing, organization and reporting, it is configured into common application areas with a full set of features for customization.
